State Senator Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) releases the below statement following adjournment of the spring legislative session:
“For the first time in memory, House Speaker Michael Madigan failed to call a budget of any kind for a vote prior to the May 31 adjournment. This is unprecedented and shows his lack of willingness to do his constitutional duty.
“Madigan’s inaction is just further proof that he has no intention to work in a bipartisan manner on a budget solution that is balanced, or one that includes reforms to cut government spending and provides incentives to bring jobs to Illinois.
“It is unfortunate that we have adjourned and still are not any closer to solving this budget impasse. As we begin the month of June, I remain committed to working across the aisle to reach a compromise that is fair to taxpayers.”
