McConchie bill creates roadway maintenance reporting website

Allows motorists to report potholes, roadway dangers

Motorists would have a convenient way to report potholes under legislation filed State Senator Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods).

Under an amendment filed to Senate Bill 958, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) would be required to create a website where people can go to report where potholes or other road dangers they see on the roadway are located. Once a person makes an entry on the website, the appropriate regional IDOT district or unit of local government would be alerted.

“The intent of this legislation is to ensure that road crews know exactly where repairs are needed,” said Sen. McConchie. “The large number of potholes is one of the biggest complaints from Illinois motorists, and this provides them with an easy, convenient avenue to report them.”

The City of Chicago currently provides this option to its residents. That website can be found here.
