Lake Zurich, IL – To help uplift the spirits of seniors throughout the community, State Senator Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) is collecting Valentine’s Day cards for his annual Valentines for Seniors Program.
“I want to ensure that our seniors are not forgotten this Valentine’s Day,” said Sen. McConchie. “There’s no doubt that those living in long-term care facilities have had a difficult few years and we should remind them that they are cared for and that people are thinking of them. This is just a small way that we can spread a little love and joy to those throughout our communities.”
Sen. McConchie is encouraging churches, schools, and community members of the 26th Senate District to write Valentine’s Day cards that can be dropped off or mailed to his district office. Once all the cards have been collected, they will be personally delivered to the various long-term care facilities that make up the district.
Sen. McConchie encourages participants to be creative. These cards can include hand-made creations, encouraging and uplifting notes, drawings, etc.
In 2022, members of the Senate Republican Caucus collected and delivered more than 45,000 Valentine’s cards.
The collection of Valentine’s Day cards will run now through February 7. Those wishing to participate will have the option to either mail their cards or drop them off. If delivering cards in-person, place them in the marked mailbox located on the 2nd floor outside the Lake Zurich office door.
