State Senator Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) releases the below statement following the Illinois Senate’s passage of House Bill 1438, which would legalize the use of recreational cannabis.
“Given the lack of sufficient safeguards for public safety including how to test for drugged driving, the limited funding available for drug prevention education, the documented risk of mental illness connected to long-term cannabis use, and the lack of support from law enforcement of legislation, I voted no.”
